由於百年老藥阿斯匹靈可減少中風、心臟病(新聞、網站)發作機率，近來服用的人愈來愈多，不過，服藥者開刀手術時可能一直滲血，影響手術進行，也造成外科醫師困擾。醫師提醒，服用阿斯匹靈的人，開刀前記得停藥五到七天，且告知醫師，否則開刀過程可能血流不止，影響手術進行。

阿斯匹靈具有抗血小板凝集功能，因此可減少血栓生成，預防心臟病、中風；然而，正因它抗血小板凝集，服用者止血功能也會變差。台大醫院神經外科醫師黃勝堅、杜永光均表示，隨著服用阿斯匹靈的人愈來愈多，外科醫師經常遇到開刀患者因長期服用阿斯匹靈，凝血功能不佳，以致手術時間必須延後，或是得輸血小板應急的情形。
