梁啟超（西園醫院永越健康管理中心醫務副院長、醫師）大腸的任何部位都可能發生癌症，但以直腸得到癌症的機率最高，約佔43％，其次是乙狀結腸25％。

腸癌細胞可以藉由血液循環轉移到身體的其它部位，如肝、肺、腦等部位，也可以藉由淋巴循環轉移至鄰近的淋巴結或淋巴腺。

早期發現的治癒率可高達8成，因此建議40歲以上者，每年應接受一次大便潛血檢查，50歲以上則最好每3到5年應接受一次大腸鏡檢查。
